A Spiritually Rich Heritage

Resurrection Way Christian Retreat Centre has been architecturally modelled as a classic retreat house. Its suitability as a retreat centre is primarily due to its quiet and serene ambience which is created from the secluded gardens bordered by the buildings.
In the past, Anglican parishes and organisations in and around Johannesburg had an annual retreat at St. Benedict’s House. All the Retreats used to follow a similar pattern in that the conductor of the retreat was always an appointed priest.
St. Benedict’s House used to be run by the sisters of the Order of the Holy Paraclete (OHP). These sisters had their mother house at Whitby in England. They lived in the residence above the kitchen and the dining room.
St. Benedict’s was somewhat like a monestary for these sisters in Christ. For those visiting for retreats it was an escape for their ordinary lives into a monastic lifestyle for a weekend.

CLERGY-LED RETREATS
Following a Pre-Determined Retreat Theme

These are retreats designed for weekend sessions or as week-long spiritual retreats. These retreats do include some morning services as well as ample opportunity to break away on your own for quiet reflection and prayer time.
A guided theme is used to allow someone to focus on elements that may lead to personal participation in both prayer and activities in order to reach a greater awareness and depth into one’s own spiritual discernment of the topic being covered.
There are opportunities for group discussion as well as personal reflection.
